Omar Trevino Morales, infamous leader of the Los Zetas drug cartel, was arrested by authorities in the Mexican state of Nuevo León on Wednesday, March 5, 2015.
The 41-year-old also known as “Commadante Forty Two,” was arrested by a joint operation of Mexican Federal Police and Army in the town of Garza Garcia.
He became the leader of Los Zetas after his brother Miguel Treviño was arrested in July 2013.
The U.S. Department of State was offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest of the drug lord.
Morales is believed to be responsible for several kidnapping, killings and supplies of multikilogram loads of cocaine smuggled from Mexico to the United States.
