Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has called on Nigerians to pray for the nation and be prepared to sacrifice for her greatness.
He added that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government is capable of pulling Nigeria out of the current economic recession saying, “Nigeria must remain united. We must continue to pray for our leaders as directed by Allah. Every leader is anointed by Allah, therefore we must continue to pray for our nation and our leaders”.
The governor, who gave the charge in a press statement emailed to The Trent on Monday, September 12, 2016 and signed by his chief press secretary, Kingsley Fanwo, said the nation is going through an invaluable opportunity to think out of the box to rebound the nation to greatness.
Alhaji Bello also said that no nation can grow without selfless sacrifices from her citizens, saying the season is an example of extraordinary affinity to Allah for breakthrough and progress.
“We have not been disadvantaged by what we are passing through. The states only need to key into the efforts by the Federal Government at diversifying our economy and grow it around agriculture, tourism and other non-oil based resources,” the statement said.
“The President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has the requisite integrity, discipline and human resource to drive the new vista of development around agriculture, tourism and other mineral resources. “Agriculture and tourism are capable of earning what is enough to grow our economy and lift our people from poverty and deprivation.
“Nigeria must remain united. We must continue to pray for our leaders as directed by Allah. Every leader is anointed by Allah, therefore we must continue to pray for our nation and our leaders,” the governor said.
The governor called on the youth to shun criminality and embrace the development agenda of the present administration in the country in order to make Nigeria the centerpiece of modern development in Africa.
Bello said his administration has declared Kogi State an agribusiness hub, saying the state, under his watch, is prepared to feed the nation.
“This is the time for leaders to look inwards and know that they are accountable to Allah. We must come together as a nation and rally round the father of the nation, President Muhammadu Buhari, to ensure that his lofty plans for the nation see the light of the day,” he said.
He pledged to use agriculture to drum up a “renewed hope for economic renaissance”, calling on investors around the world to see Nigeria as the hope of Sub-Sahara Africa.
The governor thanked the people of the State for their immeasurable sacrifices and support for his administration, saying Kogi’s best years are already unfolding.
He called on Muslims around the world to live peacefully with people of other religions in accordance with Allah’s injunction.
His words: “A world of peace is inestimable. Peace is the father of development. As we seek development around the world, we must preach peace among nations, religions and ethnicities. Muslims must be seen at the forefront of promoting peace around the world,” he said.
