LONDON, England – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Granit Xhaka and William Saliba are major doubts for their game against Manchester City on Wednesday.
Xhaka missed Arsenal’s last match due to illness, and the midfielder remains uncertain for the Manchester City game, with Arteta stating that there is no “real improvement” in Xhaka’s condition.
Speaking about Xhaka on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Arteta said: “Hopefully he will be able to train today. He’s still a doubt.”
Saliba, on the other hand, will miss the next two matches against Manchester City and Chelsea.
Regarding Saliba’s absence, Arteta explained: “There’s not been a real improvement, unfortunately, on him, so we’re still waiting.”
Saliba, who is on loan at Marseille, suffered a hamstring injury in his last match against Lille.
Arsenal will face Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, with both sides hoping to secure a victory to maintain their position in the top four.
