In the wake of brutal Xenophobic attacks in South-Africa, Malawians have decided to boycott all South-African owned businesses in their country including the mega-franchises of Game, Shoprite, and PEP.
This is the first reported boycott of South African businesses following the xenophobic attacks in South Africa. Some Nigerian groups have suggested that Nigeria do the same but this has not materialised.
Two Malawians died during the attacks, many Malawian-owned businesses were destroyed and just 2 days ago, Wednesday April 22, about 300 of their citizens returned to Malawi.
