It’s a sad day for fans of unusual animals everywhere, after it was announced that Frankenlouie, the world’s oldest two-faced cat, has died at the age of 15.
The bizarre feline, otherwise known as Frank and Louie, was born with two faces, two noses, two mouths, and three blue eyes.
According to the Telegram of Worcester, the cat died on Thursday at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts, while owner Marty Stevens has said that the animal was suffering from cancer.
In 2012, Frankenlouie set a Guinness World Record, as the longest surviving two faced cat, belonging to a group called ‘Janus cats’, named after a two-faced Roman god.
Their survival is particularly remarkable, as Janus cats rarely survive a full lifetime, due to congenital defects.
