World’s Most Expensive Dog: Bengaluru Man Buys Wolfdog for N8.67 Billion

Must read

BENGALURU, India – A Bengaluru-based dog breeder, S. Sathish, has captured global attention after purchasing a rare ‘wolfdog’ named Cadabom Okami for £4.4 million, equivalent to 8.67 billion naira.

The extravagant purchase has not only crowned the hybrid dog as the world’s most expensive but has also sparked comparisons with the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of several African nations.

Cadabom Okami, an eight-month-old cross between a wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd, weighs approximately 75 kilograms and stands 30 inches tall.

The unique animal is now the prized possession of Sathish, the President of the Indian Dog Breeders Association, who owns over 150 exotic dogs.

“I spent 50 million rupees on buying this pup because I am fond of dogs and like to own unique dogs and introduce them to India,” Sathish told The Sun.

This is not his first high-profile acquisition; last year, he purchased a chow-chow resembling a Qinling panda for €3 million.

Sathish’s sprawling estate spans seven hectares and houses his extensive collection of rare breeds, many of which are imported.

He employs six keepers to care for the dogs, which are fed a diet of raw food. “The estate covers seven hectares, so they all have plenty of space to romp around,” he said.

The breeder also revealed that his dogs attract large crowds during public appearances, where he earns significant income.

“I spent money on these dogs because they are rare. Besides, I get enough money because people are always curious to see them,” Sathish explained. “They take selfies and pictures. My dog and I get more attention than an actor at a movie screening! We both are crowd-pullers.”

The staggering price tag of Cadabom Okami has drawn comparisons with the GDPs of several African countries.

Data shows that at least five nations—São Tomé and Príncipe, Comoros, Guinea-Bissau, Seychelles, and Lesotho—have GDPs lower than 8.6 billion naira.

Whether seen as a symbol of prestige or extravagance, Cadabom Okami has entered global history books as a four-legged multimillionaire.
