The historic inauguration of the 5th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, May 29, 2015 was held spellbound by world dignitaries and past leaders of Nigeria, alongside performances by various Nigerian artistes who graced the stage to perform carefully selected renditions with messages of hope for the country.
The outgoing President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was ushered into the epoch making event in commencement of the ceremony.
The incoming President and his wife, Muhammadu and Aisha Buhari as well as his running mate, Prof Yemi and Oludolapo Osibanjo welcomed the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu, leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC had earlier arrived in the company of John Oyegun, Chairman of the APC and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
Past Nigerian leaders present include; Olusegun Obasanjo, Shehu Shagari, Abdusalam Abubakar, Earnest Shonekan and Yakubu Gowon.
Leaders of other African countries present were, Chad’s President, Idriss Deby, Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta of Mali, Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Jacob Zuma of South Africa, Alpha Condé of Guinea, as well as other African leaders.
The United States of America’s President, Barack Obama was present through a delegation led by Secretary of State, John Kerry.
Ahead of these arrivals, the stage was graced by renditions from renowned Nigerian artistes such as P-Square, Faze, K1 Ultimate and Iyanya.
