The commissioner of police in Anambra State, Hosea Hassan Karma, has said that his men will not tolerate the heinous activities of the Fulani Herdsmen in the state.

The police commissioner spoke on Friday, April 29, 2016 in Onitsha during an award ceremony organized by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) where he expressed the readiness of the state’s police to combat the militia and other criminal activities to a zero level.

He said that Anambra, among the Southeast states, remains the most peaceful region in the country and does not need the unnecessary tension the ruffians called Fulani herdsmen intend to create.

On modalities put in place to combat the criminals, Karma said, “We have constituted a formidable joint taskforce across the state borders, to check and monitor the activities of the Fulani herdsmen and other criminals.

“We have also engaged the community leaders which include traditional rulers, president-generals of all the 177 communities in the state, village heads and other stakeholders who before now have been housing Fulani herdsmen to educate them on the consequences of violence, and the need to live in harmony with the host communities.

Earlier in his address, the chairman of the police community relations committee, Sir Victor Agubisi, appreciated the efforts put in place by the present commissioner of police in the state, Karma, in re-enforcing police ethics, which according to him, has tremendously reformed the police force in the state, having placated the dent of police image in the heart of the masses.
