A mother is being criticized for allowing her husband to rape their daughter in her presence.
The woman of Gweru, Zimbabwe, has shocked the local community after she defended her husband, who was arrested for raping their daughter, who is handicapped.
The girl is 6 years old and disabled from birth. Her condition had somewhat improved due to physical therapy at the Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo.
Due to her disabilities, the child had been staying with her grandmother since she was seven months old, but on the fateful day, the mother took her home, saying that her father wanted to see his daughter.
The husband, who is HIV positive, allegedly raped the child in the presence of his wife. The rape incident came to light when the grandmother bathed her.
When questioned, the girl’s mother insisted that her husband is innocent. She defended her husband, saying he could not have committed such a crime.
The father was arrested and charged with rape. He is being held without bail.
