A woman identified as Blessing Fred gruesomely stabbed her 7-year-old son at the back because he allegedly touched the private part of their neighbour’s daughter after removing her panties at No.12, Tunde Olushola St., Ijaiye, Lagos State.
Fred on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 pleaded guilty to the offence and was ordered to be remanded at the Kirikiri Prison by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
The 23-year-old mother who is a stylist was arraigned on a two-count charge of assault and grievous harm.
According to Vanguard, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, adjourned the case till Wednesday, September 23, 2015 for sentencing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Racheal Williams, told the court that the offences were committed on Monday, July 13, 2015 after a neighbour complained to the accused that her 7-year-old son dragged her 5-year-old daughter inside the room, removed her pants and touched her private part.
Williams said, “The accused was angry, beat her son severally and stabbed him at the back with a broken bottle.
“If not for the intervention of neighbours who rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, he would have died as a result of bleeding from the wound.”
The prosecutor noted that the offence was a breach of the dictates of Sections 170 and 244(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011.
