A woman is suspected killed her husband before committing suicide by hanging in Kamacuku village in Tharaka Nithi County leaving behind three young children.
The body of Moses Kirimi, Chuka University Architect and Head of Estates Department was on Monday, September 26, 2022, found in a pool of blood inside a parking lot of his homestead while the body of his wife, Pamela Wanja was later discovered hanging from a balcony of their four storey home.
Next to Kirimi’s body was a blood-stained metal rod believed to have been used to hit the deceased on the head severally completely fracturing the skull.
The clothes of the wife and a Toyota double-cab pickup that was parked next to Kirimi’s body also had blood stains.
Police also discovered a suicide note believed to have been written by the wife before hanging apologizing to their three children for the deaths.
Confirming the incident, Maara Sub-county Police Commander Mohammed Jarso said CCTV footage at the building had captured the scuffle that happened on Sunday night.
The officer said cases of spouses killing each other were on the rise in the region and urged married partners to prefer separating instead of murder or even committing suicide.
He said murder or suicide is not a solution to domestic differences because one leaves the children and relatives suffering.
Chuka University management condoled the family and encouraged members of the staff who encounter family disputes to seek counseling early enough before things get out of hand.
