Woman Held Prisoner In A Room By Husband For Over 3 Years Recused In Delta [GRAPHIC IMAGES]

A woman held prisoner by her husband for over three years in their home in Orerokpe in Delta state has been recued.

Identified as Gladys, the mother of eight children was locked up in a room and not allowed out of the room for the period she was held captive.

Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, sharing Gladys’ story revealed the woman is originally from Ozoro in Delta state but got married to a man from Orerokpe.

Gwamnishu disclosed Gladys was accused of witchcraft by her husband and his family and locked her up in a room to perish.

According to Gwamnishu, the husband despite accusing his wife of being a witch, made his way into the cage where she was left to die and was still having sex with her. She had three of their children while she was in the cage.

Behind Bars Initiative, run by Gwamnishu got to hear about Gladys’ situation on on Monday, November 16, 2020 and went to her rescue

A team from Behin Bars Initiative rescued Gladys on Tuesday, November 17 moved her to the General Hospital in Orerokpe for treatment.
