A devout traveller and charity fundraiser decided to end her own life due to depression after ‘three of the most stressful things in life’ happened to her simultaneously including splitting with her boyfriend, changing jobs, and moving out of a house.
An inquest heard that 41-year-old Shirley Jensen, who was recovering from drug addiction was hailed an ‘inspirational leader’ by colleagues, Mirror UK reports.
She confided in her mum and told her about her worries before she committed suicide.
She said, “three of the most stressful things that can happen to a person have happened to me at the same time – I’ve ended a relationship, started a new job and moved house.”
It was learnt that police stormed Ms Jensen’s home in Stockport, Greater Manchester, when she failed to show up in the office.
Her lifeless body was found with a note which said, ‘I’m sorry’ and a self-help book titled ‘Letting Go’.
The deceased was jailed in 1992 for six months for possession of Class A drugs but later released after going teetotal at the age of 20.
Her bereaved 63-year-old mother, Winifred Barber who was still wondering why her daughter will kill herself said, “she attended Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous and helped other women to get over their experience of drugs and alcohol.
“She was a very loving and beautiful young woman. I have great faith and a belief that I will meet her again one day and she will reveal all.”
