A female staff of the Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri, was on Tuesday, May 10,2016 rescued from taking her life over frustration.
It was learnt that the over 40-years-old woman climbed a water stanchion about the height of a three-storey building and attempted jumping down.
Daily Post reports that the woman was shouting at the top of her voice, an action which attracted neighbours to her.
An eyewitness said the neighbours then alerted two policemen who climbed the facility and pleaded with the her before she came down at about 6.30 a.m.
The public relations officer of the Imo Police Command, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the incident.
Enwerem said that the woman attempted to take her life but was rescued unhurt by policemen who were invited by her neighbours.
According to the police spokesman, preliminary information obtained from the woman showed that she was a Staff of the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri.
“The woman climbed a high water tank stanchion as early as 6 a.m. and was shouting on top of her voice that she was frustrated and tired of life,’’ he said.
