An apparently frustrated 30-year-old woman committed suicide after she could no longer bear the fact that at her age she was not married and was without children.
Investigations into the death revealed that the deceased, Rachel Gow, of Haslingden, Lancashire, United Kingdom felt depressed because she felt that her siblings were doing pretty much better than her.
It was learnt that Gow saw a text message in the phone of her 30-year-old boyfriend, Anton Tsvarey in the morning of the fateful day and felt so bad by it.
Out of fear of being jilted by her lover, Gow who worked as a hospital administrator sent him a text message last November wishing him ‘all the best for the future’ before she subsequently ended her life.
Tsvarev was said to seen the message later on and made efforts to resuscitate his girlfriend but it all proved abortive as she eventually passed on.
The woman was said to be ‘outgoing, adventurous and loving’ but faced challenges after her mum, Connie died of cancer in 2011 at the age of 66 years old.
A statement heard in court by Tsvarev regarding Gow’s tragic death said, “Following the death of her mother Rachel had a period of independence.
“She met Anton and they were both extremely happy. He moved in. They had lots in common. She did have three breakups before her relationship with Anton and her greatest wish was to settle down, start a relationship and get married.
“But she could not overcome her previous sadness and felt Anton would leave her. She was looking forward to turning 30, planning trips to Italy with Anton and going to go Vegas for her birthday, she was saving money every month. But the relationship became unstable and they tried to make it work.”
He added, “There had been nothing significant at the time except the anniversary of her mother’s death also along with her 30th birthday and mine. These were all things that troubled her. She felt she was not where she should be in life.”
According to Metro UK, Tsvarev said she felt that at her age, she should be married with children.
“This was something she struggled with. Rachel had spoken to me about the fact she had researched suicide techniques.
“I was not sure how serious she was about it because she always said things in the heat of the moment.”
One of the investigators, Coroner Richard Taylor said, “We have a girl who is severely troubled by a number of aspects of her life. As I understand it she was having a slightly more positive year because of new employment.
“But she clearly had difficulties and at some stage she purchased the items with which she took her own life.
“It appears from her actions she did that with intent to end her life.”
