A 25-year-old woman who thought she was pregnant for just one child was shocked to the marrows when five health baby girls popped out within a space of 30 minutes.
Manita Singh, who was 26 weeks pregnant was admitted to a local government hospital in Ambikapur, in Chhattisgarh in eastern India, in the morning of Saturday, April 2, 2016.
During the delivery process which started around 11am, doctors discovered she had five female babies.
The highly elated husband, Mahesh Singh, 26, couldn’t contain his joy on the arrival of his new bundles of joy.
He said: “I am extremely grateful to God for blessing us with not one but five children.
“We were heartbroken when we lost our first child, a son, immediately after birth two years ago. I believe God has compensated the loss.
“I only hope that they all survive and I can give them a wonderful life.”
While both the mother and the babies are stable, doctors are keeping a constant check on the infants as they believe their chances of survival are very slim, Metro UK reports.
The babies, all weighing just over 3lbs each, are under doctor’s supervision in the neo-natal Intensive Care Unit.
“We are very happy for the parents but the babies are under supervision as they all are premature.
“While they are healthy, we cannot say if they will survive. However, we are doing every bit to save them.”
