LAGOS, Nigeria — Nigerian global music sensation, Wizkid, born Ayodeji Balogun, is mourning the tragic loss of his mother, Mrs. Jane Balogun.

Mrs. Balogun’s passing was confirmed by Wizkid’s longtime manager, Sunday Are, who revealed she died on Friday, August 18, 2023.

Speaking with our correspondent, a somber Sunday Are stated, “Yes, she passed away this morning, around 1:30 am.”

Jane Balogun was the beacon behind Wizkid’s soaring career and a loving mother to two other children, Yetunde and Lade Balogun.

The Balogun family has yet to reveal further details surrounding her demise.

Wizkid, often hailed as a trailblazer in the Afrobeats genre, has often credited his mother for her unfailing support and encouragement throughout his journey to international stardom.

In a candid confession, popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has admitted to having an immense ‘crush’ on Grammy-winning singer, Wizkid.

The self-proclaimed transgender woman spoke about her long-standing admiration for the Afrobeats superstar, calling him “the only guy in Nigeria I have a huge crush on.”

Bobrisky made this revelation via her Snap Chat account on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, where she shared a photo of the ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner, captioning it with an outpouring of affection. “The only guy in Nigeria I have a huge crush on,” Bob wrote.

Despite her infatuation, Bobrisky clarified that she remains focused and is not too desperate. “He’s the only guy in Nigeria I have been crushing on for years but because he’s Wizkid will never make me lose focus,” she shared.

Recounting an encounter with Wizkid at Eko Hotel just a few weeks ago, Bobrisky revealed that they were on the same floor but chose not to act overly eager. “I didn’t act too desperate,” she said.

Interestingly, Bobrisky mentioned that she doesn’t follow Wizkid on social media but has dreamt about him before, showcasing the depth of her admiration. “I’m not following him on snap or IG but no worry I don dream say he knack me before to tell you how much love him,” Bob confessed.
