An Indian sorcerer who decapitated a baby before drinking the blood from its severed head has been sentenced to death.
Lakkhikanto Karmakar will be executed after being found guilty of the horrific slaying in Kalakuri, Bankura, West Bengal, in Jan. 2012.
Indian media reports that Karmakar, a backstreet abortionist who practiced “black magic” with his mom, was seen carrying out the sick stunt in a graveyard.
They beat him to within an inch of life and were preparing to lynch him before cops arrived, reports News One India.
Karmakar was arrested and, two years later, appeared this week before a district court in Bankura.
Seventeen witnesses testified against him and he was condemned to death. It’s not clear when, where and how he will be executed.
“Karmakar was convicted and a fast track court considered the case to be the rarest of the rare and awarded him the death penalty Monday,” public prosecutor AK Chattopadhyay told reporters.
