Senator Olaka Nwogu who represents Rivers South-East senatorial district in the upper chamber has spoken up for senators from the state noting that they will not victimize the former Governor if and when he appears before the senate for his own ministerial screening.
The three senators from River State are all members of the PDP unlike Rotimi Amaechi who is a key figure in the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Speaking to Punch Newspaper in a telephone chat, Senator Nwogu clarified the position of Rivers State senators on Amaechi’s prospective screening at the upper chamber.
“If there are questions to be asked, we, as senators, will ask questions. But at the same time, we shall not be against anybody.
“We will not single out Amaechi for any treatment different from what others will go through. We will not go with any element of bias,” he explained.
Nwogu also noted that the senators will not witch-hunt any of the nominees as they are out to approve of only those who can do a good job and to reject those who can’t.
“If we think that you as a ministerial nominee will do a good job, we will support you. On the other hand, if we think that you will not do a good job, we will insist.
“But we will not embark on a witch-hunt against anybody. We will not antagonise anybody. We will do our best for the country,” he further explained.
