Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, reacted to his suspension by President Goodluck Jonathan which came as a surprise to him while he was outside the country.
Sanusi, who spoke on CNBC Africa few hours after his suspension on Thursday, said he wasn’t seeking to return to the office but to ”protect the independence” of the Central Bank.

He also said that allegations being made against him were not new, dismissing them. He also called his suspension a political move and questioned why the Presidency had to wait this long to remove him from office.
