PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – Tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, seem to be escalating as Timothy Osadolor, a member of the party’s National Executive Committee, has declared that the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, is no longer a member of the party.
He cited Wike’s conduct during the 2023 general elections and his recent public outings as reasons for this claim.
Osadolor noted in a telephone conversation with Punch on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, that the party leadership has chosen to isolate Wike and downplay his role in the PDP affairs.

This decision, he explained, follows Wike’s conduct that gave an impression of leaning towards the All Progressives Congress, APC, suggesting an undue craving for the spotlight at any cost.
However, Chris Finebone, the immediate past Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications and a PDP chieftain, swiftly refuted Osadolor’s statements.
Finebone affirmed that Wike remained a bona fide member of the opposition party and dismissed Osadolor’s comments as inconsequential wishful thinking.
He further defended Wike against accusations of hobnobbing with APC’s Bola Tinubu, labeling them petty and frivolous.
