CALIFORNIA, USA – WhatsApp is set to launch an automatic toggle feature that will allow users to share their status updates on Facebook.
The new feature, which is currently being developed for both Android and iOS, will give WhatsApp beta Android users the option to share their status updates on Facebook automatically when the toggle is enabled within the app settings.
WhatsApp said that the feature will be optional, with users able to choose whether to enable it. The feature is disabled by default, but users can turn it on within the status privacy settings. They will also have complete control over which status updates to share and which ones to keep private.
In a statement on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, WhatsApp said that the new feature will not compromise users’ privacy.
“We understand the importance of privacy for our users, and we want to assure them that they will still have control over their status updates,” the statement read. “With this feature, they will be able to share specific status updates with their Facebook Story audience without leaving WhatsApp.”
The feature has been in the works for some time, with WhatsApp announcing earlier this month that it was working on a manual option for the share status update feature.
However, the automatic toggle feature is set to make it easier for users to share their status updates with their Facebook audience without having to manually select each update.
The exact time for the feature’s rollout has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be released soon.
