A terrorist attack on some settlements in the outskirts of Bama and Ngurosoye was foiled over the weekend by troops on patrol, Defence Headquarters has reported.
Items recovered from the band of terrorists include 16 burnt AK 47 rifles, 5 Pickup vehicles, 7 Gulf cars and one Hillux truck. A total of 18 terrorists reportedly died from the encounter.
Also, a cordon and search operation mounted by security operatives in adjoining communities led to the recovery of sixteen AK47 rifles and a total of 75 villagers screened and released.
The DHQ also reports that several terrorist camps were overrrun in the outskirts of Gombole, Mele, Kecheri, Dufrfada, Yuwe, and others around Mandara mountains and Sambisa forests after stiff resistance.
Many terrorists died in the encounter, while a soldier lost his life and five others were wounded.
