Two gay lovers who met online and kicked off a relationship which subsequently became more intimate with bouts of sexual intercourse, have been left distraught after they realized they are brothers.
The duo of Paul and Lee made the shocking discovery live on the ‘Jeremy Kyle’ show following a DNA test after friends and relatives noticed some uncanny resemblance between Paul and his mum’s former husband, Ron.
Paul shared the same surname as Ron.
However the couple were left visibly distressed when the host of the show, Kyle revealed the result of the DNA test to them which stated that they were born of the same woman.
“The test results show that you two … you’re half brothers,” he said.
They were seen apparently shocked to the marrows as they both sat in silence for about 20 seconds, clearly unable to comprehend the revelation.
It was learnt that the couple had exchanged flirty messages consecutively for two years before they finally met personally.
Paul was taken into care when he was 18 months old, while Lee was later conceived by the same mother.
Kyle asked, “You are having a physical sexual relationship with a man that you love and want to marry and at some point somebody might tell you that he could be your half brother – what does that do to you?”
Distressed Paul said, “It was emotional because we’d been talking for so long.
“We met in November of last year.
“I’m hoping that it’s not true because I love you so much it’s unreal.”
On his own part, Lee said, “It makes me sick. It makes me basically horrible. I can’t describe it.”
“What’s the worst case scenario if it turns out you are brothers?
“I’m the same. It’s hard to describe how much I love you.”
Kyle proceeded to read out a statement from Ron where he says he had four children and one of them was named Paul.
While a statement from Lee’s mother Ena read, “When I saw Paul for first time I instantly thought he looked like my ex-husband Ron.
“If it turns out Paul is my son I would be so happy and would love to get to know him.”
“You were in a physical relationship – how do you switch that emotional feeling off? Have you given it any thought?,” Kyle quizzed.
“Not at the moment,” they both responded.
Show psychotherapist Graham then brings them together with Ron and Ena for the first time.
“It’s going to take time to process that and you’ll need to do it at your own speed,” Graham tells them before offering counselling.
Meanwhile, Kyle said the pair are still in touch till date.
