Warning Shots: IPOB Tells Asari Dokubo and His Militia to Stay Out of South East

ENUGU, Nigeria – The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, a pro-Biafra group, has issued a stern warning to Asari Dokubo, and his alleged militia group to stay away from the South East, threatening repercussions otherwise.

Emma Powerful, the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPoB, expressed shock in a statement ON Wednesday, July 26, 2023, over the silence of the Nigerian media and Igbo political leaders regarding the formation of a militia, supposedly headed by Alhaji Asari Dokubo.

The group alleges that Dokubo’s militia is one of the entities causing havoc across Igbo land.

“The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, led by Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu, wish to draw the attention of our people to what is happening and what is about to happen,” the statement read.

“It is unfortunate that Nigeria media and Igbo political leaders are mute over the formation of Militia headed by Alhaji Asari Dokubo. The group which is among the groups causing mayhem that is sweeping across Igbo land,” IPoB continued.

When IPOB launched the Eastern Security Network, ESN, in December 2020 to protect regional territories from potential threats, Powerful noted that it faced opposition from the Nigerian media and some Igbo politicians.

Yet, the group insists that the ESN has managed to secure the region, enabling people to return to their farms, previously rendered unsafe due to alleged activities of Fulani herdsmen.

The statement warned of impending threats from the alleged militia group, criticizing some prominent Igbo individuals for their perceived indifference to the looming danger.

It attributed the current insecurity in the region to fifth columnists and their militias, and claimed they have two main agendas: to make the peaceful Biafra agitation appear violent before the international community, and to create an unsafe environment to discourage locals from investing in the region, furthering their victimization in Nigeria.

The statement concluded with a plea for unity, urging people to rise above the threats, adding that the struggle for a free Biafra state is a collective effort.

The Nigerian government has yet to comment on the allegations and warnings issued by IPoB.
