The Kano Hisbah Board has arrested the head of Gordon Maje village in Danbatta Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Musa Goron-Maje, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl and infecting her with HIV.
Speaking to newsmen, the Director-General (DG) of the board, Dr. Abba Sufi, revealed that the victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital in the area for proper medical attention.
According to him, the board received complaints from the victim’s parents as well as the vigilant community leaders before he was arrested on Monday, February 22, 2016.
Goron-Maje was removed from office as the village head following the orders of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II.
He said: “The girl was to be given out in marriage to her suitor, but three days to the wedding ceremony, the girl was tested and found to be HIV positive.”
She claimed that the village head who also tested positive of the virus sexually assaulted her and infected her.
The suspect would appear in court soon for prosecution, according to Sufi.
