Veteran Nigerian Actor Dejumo Lewis Passes Away at 80

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian film and television industry mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished veterans, Dejumo Lewis, who passed away at the age of 80 following an undisclosed illness.

The news of his death was confirmed by fellow actor Saheed Balogun through an Instagram post on Saturday, December 23, 2023.

Balogun expressed his condolences, saying, “Good night DEJUMO LEWIS, may your soul rest in perfect peace.”

Dejumo Lewis was celebrated for his compelling performances and exceptional talent. He was particularly renowned for his role in the iconic television series ‘The Village Headmaster,’ where he portrayed the character of Kabiyesi, a role that earned him widespread acclaim and a lasting legacy in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

His impact extended beyond ‘The Village Headmaster,’ as he also starred in notable films such as “A Place in the Stars”, ‘Crossroads’, and ‘Power of 1’.
