The American military have commenced airstrikes, targeting the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria.
The news of the strikes was confirmed in a statement by Rear Admiral John Kirby, Pentagon’s press secretary on Monday, September 22, 2014. Kirby explained that the attack consisted of a mix of fighters, bombers and Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles
Kirby said: “The decision to conduct theses strikes was made earlier today by the U.S. Central Command commander under authorization granted him by the Commander-in-Chief.”
Although details of the strike are not yet known, word on social media say the strikes were conducted in the Raqqa with a purported video appearing on YouTube, although it has not yet been authenticated officially.
