Two persons have reportedly died while 14 others were said to have sustained varying degrees of gunshot injuries in the robbery attack that took place at two commercial banks in Ijede, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The attack took place on Monday, June 1, 2015 as some armed robbers attacked a First bank branch at Omitoro and Ijede branch of Wema bank in separate attacks.
Some residents in the area said two women among the injured victims were still receiving treatment at General Hospital, Gbagada.
A welder, Sulaimon, who was shot on the thigh, told Punch that the first deceased person, identified only as Femi, was a truck driver, who was shot by the robbers at the Agric bus stop, Ijede, while an okada rider, whose name had yet to be identified, was also killed and his bike snatched by the robbers.
Also, another resident, who identified himself only as Saheed, said the truck driver was buried on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.
He said, “The robbers also shot at our transformer as they left. Since Monday, we have not had electricity.”
The state police image maker, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, who confirmed the death of the truck driver said that the force has launched a manhunt to ensure the robbers are nabbed and brought to book.
