A security guard working with the United Bank for Africa, UBA, who returned $10,000 was given and unbelievable reward for honesty at the UBA CEO Awards ceremony on Saturday, April 8, 2017.
In July, Tony Elumelu, the chairman of the bank, shared the story of Mohammed Ibrahim Ogbanago, on his Facebook page extolling him for his honesty in returning $10,000 a customer forgot at the Oba Akran branch of the bank in Lagos.
The entrepreneur wrote, “When I heard about this story, I knew I had to meet the man who despite facing rising petrol & transportation prices and ‘Tomato Ebola’ returned such a huge sum of money without recourse to himself.”
“It was a pleasant surprise to hear him tell this story and about how he came to be in the board room with us. even more surprising was hearing him speak about his passion for governance and integrity in leadership,” he added.

Mr. Ogbanago, a native of Kogi State, was given a cash prize of $5,000 by the governor of Adamawa State; $10,000 by the governor of Bauchi State; a promise of N5,000,000 by the Dr. Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy senate president.
Senator Ekeremadu also announced that Ogbanago will be announced during the Senate’s plenary session on Tuesday in recognition of his exemplary behaviour.
