2-Year-Old Marriage Dissolved Over Husband’s Addiction To Indian Hemp

Must read

A 33-year-old woman simply identified as Celestina had dragged her husband of two years, Segun Faleye, to a Lagos customary court seeking a dissolution of the marriage because he was addicted to consuming alcohol and Indian hemp also known as ‘Igbo’.

In his bidding, the president of the court, Ruphus Adeyeri, who made a failed attempt to reconcile the couple simply dissolved the marriage.

The defendant who admitted to consuming alcohol told the court that his wife was used to controlling him because she was bearing the financial cost of the family since he lost his job.

He said, “Both parties are no longer husband and wife; they are free to go their separate ways.”

In reaction, 40-year-old Falaye, said, “I take alcoholic drinks, but not excessively. I have never taken Indian hemp. My wife controls and commands me, all because she pays the bills.

I used to pay the bills, but now that I have no job, I cannot steal to fend for my family.”
