The lifeless bodies of two male staff of a hotel were on Friday, May 8, 2015 discovered inside the same room in Home Best Hotel in Edede, Owerri, Imo State, where they worked.
One of the deceased, identified as 25-year-old Chima Nnadi from Imo State, was said to be a part-time student of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri.
It was learnt that Nnadi had turned off a generating set close to his room before joining his colleague identified as 29-year-old Chukwunonso Ebubealo, who hails from Awka in Anambra State.
According to Daily Post, the remains of both men were discovered by an employee of the hotel, who was instructed by the manager to break down the door to the room after both men were not seen at their duty post.
Speculations were high that the duo committed suicide while some others opine that they must have died from the fumes emanating from the generator.
However, the Chief Vigilante of the area, Anayo Adiele, dismissed the claims that the deceased committed suicide.
An undisclosed source who resides in the area said, “I don’t think they died of any generator fume, they put off the generator before going to bed. I think both of them might have died of poison from the last meal they ate that night”.
The corpses have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri mortuary for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the police spokesperson of the state is yet to confirm the incident as at the time of this report.
