Two female suicide bombers have been blown apart after the Improvised Explosive Devices strapped on them accidentally blew up in Auno village of the Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Speculations were high that the duo whose identities and age bracket were unknown were on mission to Maiduguri Market when the IEDs blew them apart on Sunday, March 22, 2015.
A source among the witnesses, Gana Bukar, said the incident occurred at about 2pm,and that no fewer than seven other persons were injured in the incident.
He said, “The suicide bombers were said to have been brought by one suspected Boko Haram member. They were to take a bus to the market.
“We were told that their master dropped them in Jakana.”
A taxi driver, Mallam Mohammdu Abor, who claimed that he drove through Auno on Sunday, told Punch that he saw mangled bodies of the suicide bombers by the roadside.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for a youth vigilante group in the state, Jibrin Gunda, confirmed the incident and stated that they would step up stop-and-search to prevent bombers from gaining further access into the capital city.
