Kristen Stewart has become the first American actress ever to win a César Award (The French equivalent of an Oscar) at France’s most prestigious film award show in Paris on Friday, February 20, 2015.
The actress, popularly known for her role as Bella in the highly rated “Twilight” romance fantasy film series, won Best Supporting Actress for her co-starring role in “Cloud of Sils Maria” directed by Olivier Assayas.
She plays Valentine, a loyal assistant to Juliette Binoche’s Maria Enders, a renowned actress who has to deal with her own mortality in the movie.
The 24-year-old is the first American woman to be nominated since Julia Migenes after her role in the film “Carmen.”
While speaking to reporters backstage, an excited Steward said, “The reasons why people make films here in France are very different from the reasons why people make movies in Hollywood and I prefer it here a little bit.”
