Rachel Maddow, an MSNBC’s anchorperson on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, broke down in tears on live television as she struggled to deliver news about migrant babies and toddlers being sent to tender age shelters.
“This is incredible,” Maddow muttered before continuing with the lede from an AP story, which broke while she was on air.
“Trump administration officials have been sending babies and other young children forcibly separated from their parents to at least three “tender age” shelters in South Texas.

“Lawyers and medical providers…” was all she could manage from the second sentence, before choking up and giving to end the segment.
The Trump administration’s forcible separation of children from their families at the US borders has people agitated.
The second sentence of the story Maddow couldn’t take speaks about lawyers and medical providers who have visited the shelters describing “play rooms of crying preschool-age children in crisis…”
She later tweeted about her breakdown, writing: “Ugh, I’m sorry. If nothing else, it is my job to actually be able to speak while I’m on TV.”

What I was trying to do — when I suddenly couldn't say/do anything — was read this lede:
