A large cache of arms and ammunition including anti aircraft guns, rocket propelled guns as well as the General Purpose and other brands of machine guns has been recovered by military men in Borno State.
According to a statement released by Major Gen. Olukolade today, March 21, 2014 one of the terrorists that had been captured in recent raids had led a delegate of troops on the cordon and search mission.
Olukolade said the middle-aged informant, who claimed to be a Cameroonian and an arms courier had also disclosed that the weapons were stockpiled to be used in a pending attack on some communities around Nigeria-Cameroon border.
The church used as hideout is one of those burnt in early attacks of the terrorists in Kalabalge Local Government Area of the state. Also recovered from the location were thousands of various caliber of rounds of ammunition and links.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Kenneth Minima accompanied by his Airforce counterpart,Air Marshal Adesola Amosu have undertaken an inspection of troops in the entire mission area as well as the wounded soldiers in the Military Hospital in Maiduguri.
