[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t was with great shock I saw the tributes to Emeka Jeffrey Onuoha on a few Facebook walls, with all of such mourning his death.
I couldn’t believe it.
I had only met him once and that was in 2012 but he made a great impression on me and he came across as a very, very intelligent fellow who was arguably the best in these parts at what he did.
And what did he do?
Drax, as he was popularly known, was a computer graphics and design guru. He could use his software to design mind blowing stuff! When I first met him ( and that also was the last but we interacted a lot on facebook after that) it was through Egor Efiok who told me that there was a wizard in designs who could design a few ideas for me.
I met him one evening in January 2012 in Surulere, near my Lagos office and just a few minutes of chatting, I was blown away. The guy was a brain and also he was a UNN alumnus like me and that triggered more chats.
We couldn’t agree on a price (Drax was pricey but deservedly so) but we interacted on Facebook after that and most times I would go on his page to check his new designs. Drax was a consultant for many advertising agencies and many beyond the creative industry.
It’s a shock to hear that he’s dead. Someone wrote that it’s from Kidney failure. It’s quite sad.
How could just one meeting leave a huge impression like this guy did?
He was one of a kind. May his soul rest in peace.
Great Lions and Lionesses, a great from among us will stride the plains no more.
