Former Akwa Ibom State Governor and current Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district, Godswill Akpabio has gone an extra step in order to prove he won the Saturday, March 28, 2015 Senatorial election that has seen him become not just a member of the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, but also the Minority Leader in the Senate.
After previously inviting 63 witnesses to testify in his favour before a Justice Goddy Anunihu led tribunal sitting at Customary Court, Dutsen Alhaji in Abuja, Akpabio has invited a further 1,106 witnesses.
This brings to 1,169 the total number of witnesses called up by the former governor to defend his election.
This is in reaction to Inibehe Okori of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who had challenged Akpabio’s election on the grounds that he was not nominated or sponsored by any political party.
Akpabio is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
