PassionistaHub.com is a contemporary online fashion blogazine. In case you’re wondering what inspires the name: “Passionista”, it is actually a portmanteau word from “passion” + “(fashio)nista”. Recently nominated “ONLINE PUBLICATION OF THE YEAR”, FAB AWARDS 2012, the blogazine is into catchy trends, with topics ranging from fragrances to make-up tips, to ManStyle, models, editorials, red carpet, upcoming fashion events, news and scoops in Nigeria & beyond! It also addresses the multifarious and multidimensional fashions that abound in the music and movie world.

The Season of Xmas is upon us finally! And one dominant colour you’ll see around you (if a cursory look is taken) is RED. It’s no surprise that a number of Hollywood stars are rocking this colour not just for red carpet events, but for street style looks as 2013 grinds to a halt! This blogpost is actually inspired by a picture I spotted recently on Instagram. It was that of Canada-based model friend who happen to rock monochrome look head-to-toe and I thought to myself a “pop of red” would have taken her look few notches higher. But she does exceedingly well – stylewise when it comes to dressing fabulously!

Undoubtedly, Hollywood is one place where style and trends intersect seamlessly. And talking of the red trend, celebs like Lea Michele, Gwyneth Paltrow, Olivia Palermo, Lily Collins, Gwen Stefani and Nicole Richie to mention a few have recently rocked this colour. I’ll be describing each look on the celeb as depicted on the pic above.

First on the list is Olivia Palermo, a celebrated fashionista in fashion circles. For her look, she is seen wearing a red, blue and white tribal striped coat paired with a denim skinny jeans. She adorns a printed Manolo Blahnik pointy-toe pumps with a brown leather backpack in her hands. She takes on a “street style” look effortlessly. I love the fact she accessorized her look minimally.

Would-be mother Gwen Stefani wouldn’t want to dichotomize her chic style for anything in the world (including her pregnancy). She rocks a red long-sleeved tunic dress, paired with black tights, knee-high boots and a black tote bag. This is a real deal anyday for stylish preggie moms. Apparently, maternity gowns should be off the racks or wardrobes if you still have them! At least, that’s the silent message Ms. Stefani is sending across here!

Stuck in Love star Lily Collins strolls in a classy ruffled Givenchy denim skirt, paired with a black tank top + blazer with folded sleeves and a nude scalloped Chloé pumps. She picks something red to “pop” the whole look by hanging a red sling bag. Effortlessly chic!

JUST A TIP:  This particular look is also ideal where you’re rocking a strict monochrome look. For instance, if you’re wearing a black chiffon top on white linen or cotton pants, you could pair with a burgundy (or red) platform heels. Or alternatively, get a red clutch purse or red skinny cinch belt if it’s a monochrome striped top you’re wearing on a black pencil skirt or just a  structured dress.

The last fashionista for review is Nicole Richie who chicly adorns over her shoulders a red Saint Laurent blazer, worn with a crisp white shirt, black belt and wide-legged denim pants. She finishes off the look with a navy Balenciaga hangbag. In the game of style, when you talk of ladies with sartorial elegance, you just can’t rule Ms. Richie out! Res ipsa loquitur.

While I’ll always stick to young Nigerian ladies looking this good, one thing I NEVER FAIL TO MENTION on this blogazine is having a well-toned body. Flabby arms, tummies, legs, baby pouches, etc are completely unsightly! They could irredeemably ruin a red carpet look especially where you take the indiscretion of wearing backless or fitted dresses!
