ABUJA, Nigeria – Hussaini Lawal, a Bureau de Change, BDC, operative, and his pregnant wife were found dead on their bed in their apartment at Wuse Zone 4 in Abuja.
Auwal, Hussaini Lawal’s elder brother, spoke to journalists on Thursday, June 22, 2023, and shared that his brother was last seen at his office, which is located at a walking distance from his residence.
He stated that Hussaini Lawal lived with his wife in an apartment on the second floor of a three-story building at Agric Quarters, along with other tenants.
Auwal mentioned that the couple’s apartment was locked from the inside and Hussaini Lawal’s vehicle was still in the compound.
After repeated calls to both Hussaini and his wife’s mobile phones went unanswered, Auwal, who was traveling from Kano at the time, suggested that the door should be forcibly opened.
Upon forcing the door open on Saturday, June 17, 2023, Hussaini and his pregnant wife were found dead on their bed.
The incident was reported to the Wuse Zone 3 Police Division.
Following a preliminary investigation, the bodies of the deceased couple were taken to Wuse General Hospital.
They were subsequently buried on the same day.
As of the time of this report, further details regarding the cause of the couple’s death have not been disclosed.
The police investigation is ongoing.
