‘Animal’: Women Pleads With Court To Punish Husband Who Raped Her 10-Year-Old Daughter

A 35-year-old woman has described her husband, John Odu, as an animal for sexually abusing and defiling their 10-year-old daughter.

The aggrieved mother is begging an Ogba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos to mete out severe punishment on him.

The accused was alleged to have taken advantage of the innocence of his daughter when his wife was not around to engage in the act.

The police said the incident happened in the Lekki area of Lagos.

The police prosecutor, Akeem Raji, said when the 10-year-old girl could no longer bear the pain, she reported the matter to her mother.

The accused is currently facing a two-count charge of sexual assault and defilement, offences that attract up to 14 years in jail if found guilty.

The police said that the highly traumatised girl alleged that her father locked her inside their apartment, forced her to open her mouth, and ordered her to suck him before forcing himself on her.

“My Lord, the beast of a man threatened to kill his daughter if she reported the incident to her mother,” the police said.

He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs B. O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri, Lagos, pending the DPP’s report.
