LAGOS – A sad event occurred on Tuesday December 10th 2013 at about 7 a.m. as an official of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority(LAWMA) was crushed by the agencies waste disposal truck.
The official, named Idowu, was in the truck with three of his colleagues when it suddenly skidded off the road and fell on its side. Unfortunately, the vehicle, known as PSP, fell on Idowu cutting him in two halves while his three colleagues escaped unharmed.
The accident occurred at Egbeda-Idimu Road around car wash bus stop. According to eyewitnesses, the accident was caused by commercial bus drivers who were stopping to pick passengers at the bus stop exclusively meant for BRT buses. Being an illegal bus stop, the drivers drove recklessly and hurriedly.
An eyewitness who spoke to the Punch Newspapers said, “The PSP truck overturned as its driver tried to avoid ramming into two commercial buses filled with passengers. He said, “This Car Wash is not a bus stop. This accident happened around 7am. The PSP truck stopped to pick refuse and was about to drive away. A commercial bus parked in its front, picking passengers, another one parked at the back of the truck, also picking passengers.
