A head-on collision between a truck and a bus on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 left at least 7 persons dead at Igbara Oke on the Ilesa-Akure highway in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to Punch, the accident involved a truck with number plate, ALK 04 XA, coming from the Akure end of the road and a Toyota space wagon bus marked Lagos KRD 711 AG, which was reportedly headed towards the Ondo State capital from Lagos State.
A source who witnessed the tragedy narrated that the driver of the cement-laden truck, lost control and collided with the space wagon, killing the driver identified as Sunday Efo, and six other occupants of the bus.
The killer truck driver, according to the witness, escaped the deadly accident with some serious injuries.
Confirming the incident, the Head of Operation of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in the state, Mr Adeleye Adegboyega, said the bodies of the dead victims had been deposited at the morgue of the State Specialists Hospital, Akure.
He also added that the injured victims were taken to the same hospital for medical care.treatment
