The Peter Obi Support Network (POSN) has urged All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu, to address and clarify his alleged dual citizenship.
In a statement released on Monday, April 17, 2023, POSN claimed that Tinubu’s controversial presidential mandate, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is at risk due to the dual citizenship issue and allegations of perjury circulating on social media.
The controversy began when a picture of the bio-page of a Guinea Conakry passport belonging to Tinubu surfaced online. The image gained traction after prominent journalist David Hundeyin shared a copy on his Twitter handle.

The Trent had independently received the same Guinean passport for Mr Bola Tinubu and reported the story.
In response, POSN issued a statement signed by FCC Onwuasoanya Jones, of its Directorate of Strategic Communications, emphasising that “Tinubu’s alleged presidential mandate is at risk, as the laws of the land are clear on the issue of dual citizenship.” The statement also highlighted Tinubu’s close relationship with Guinean President Alpha Conde, whom Tinubu claimed to have helped secure re-election in October 2015.
POSN called for an investigation into potential perjury by the former governor, citing Section 56 of the Penal Code, which states that giving false evidence includes making a false statement, verbally or otherwise, while bound by an oath or law to tell the truth or make a declaration.

The group pointed out that Tinubu did not disclose his Guinean citizenship in the documents submitted to INEC for the recent Nigerian Presidential election.
POSN stressed the importance of Tinubu addressing the allegations, as any political office holder with dual citizenship risks losing their mandate according to Nigerian law.
“Our attention has been drawn to the bio-page of a Guinea Conakry Passport belonging to Mr. Bola Tinubu which has been trending online after popular journalist David Hundeyin shared a copy on his Twitter handle,” the statement read.
“The passport carried Tinubu’s image and said it was issued in 2015, expiring five years later in October 2020.
“It is public knowledge how cordial relationship is between the Guinean President, Alhpa Conde, and Tinubu, as Tinubu had publicly claimed credit for helping Conde secure his re-election in October 2015.
“Mr. Tinubu needs to come out as early as possible to clear the air on the allegation of dual citizenship, which puts his alleged presidential mandate, as controversially declared by INEC, at great risk,” POSN concluded.
