With several members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) criticizing the decision of about 50 senators to accompany Senate President Bukola Saraki to his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), pictures have resurfaced of former Lagos State Governor and National leader of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s trial at the tribunal in 2011.
Tinubu in 2011 was arraigned on charges of operating several foreign account whilst he was still governor from 1999 to 2007.
In a unanimous ruling of a 3-man panel of justices of the CCT led by its chairman, Justice Danladi Yakubu Umar, the ex-governor was discharged on the premise that the charge against him was legally defective.
His charges had read:
That you Bola Ahmed Tinubu former governor of Lagos State, being a public officer, as listed in part II of the fifth schedule to the 1999 Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria and having subscribed to the oath of office as enshrin…ed in the seventh schedule to the 1999 Constitution on assumption in office as such engaged yourself in the operation and maintenance of several foreign bank accounts namely:

Contrary to section 7 of the code of conduct bureau and tribunal act, Cap 56 LFN, 1990 and punishable under section 23 (2) thereof as incorporated under paragraph 18, part 1, fifth schedule to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Present at his 2011 trial were several top ranking APC members, including Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, his Ogun State counterpart, Ibikunle Amosun among others.
