Not fewer than three persons were killed during a notorious cult clash on Sunday, August 3, 2014 in two Ogoni communities, Bane and Kpaa in Khana local government area of Rivers state.
One of the cultists, who could not be identified, was beheaded after being shot.
Confirming the incident, the caretaker committee chairman of Khana local government Area, Mr. Hyacinth Nwiye, said that the real cause of the fight still remained a mystery.
“When I heard about the incident, I quickly called the police to find out what happened. I later went there and discovered that the corpses had been brought to the police station.
“I went with them to the mortuary where the corpses were deposited. I later discovered that one of the cultists that participated in this nefarious act was shot dead and beheaded.
“His head was taken away. The headless body has been taken to the mortuary,” the chairman said.
However when contacted, the state assistant police public relations officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, explained that though she was aware of the incident, the divisional police Ooficer of the area is yet to make an official report on it.
