A Florida couple is behind bars after authorities found their three children wandering in the woods.
The police were called to investigate the scene after an RV park security guard witnessed Michael and Sarah Butcher lurking around the quietretirement community.
The security guard stated that the man seemed high and unsuccessfully persuaded them to leave.
After arresting and transporting the couple to the county jail, police found methamphetamine in Michael Butcher’s pocket.
Although the couple never mentioned they had children, later on a deputy found three children in the woods who claimed the arrested couple were their parents.
The children, ages 6, 8, and 10, claimed that their parents disappeared after bringing them into the woods to go camping.
Authorities have stated that it appears that the family was living out of a truck filled with syringes and old food.
The parents have both been charged with abandonment and loitering.
The children are safe and have been taken into custody by the state Department of Children and Families.
