A man gave his girlfriend what has been described as the meanest Valentines Day proposal ever after he got down on one knee and rather than pop the big question, he asked for a cup of tea with a bag of tea inside an engagement ring box.
24-year-old Brad Holmes, from Southampton, took to Facebook to share the experience alongside with a short video clip which had been viewed over 9 million times.
His 22-year-old girlfriend, Jenny Davies obviously tried to share the joke though very expensive and somewhat embarrassing after she covered her face in the usual proposal surprise only to discover it was all some joke.
He said “You know you make me the happiest man in the world. I’m shaking but I love you to bits, you know that, right?’ he says to her.
“I want you to make me the happiest man in the world. I have got a question to ask you.”
He then fished out the box from his pockets and opened it only to reveal a tea bag, then he asked her, “Will you make me a cup of tea?”
Davies took the box, chuckled it behind her and stormed out of the room, although he claims she had long forgiven him.
He said: “I grovelled for a bit and played it back to her and she saw the funny side.
“I got my cup of tea within 15 to 20 minutes.She was a bit annoyed about it but she knows what I’m like.”
