Tesslo Concepts, a Nigerian fashion label founded in 2005 by UK-trained Tessy Oliseh-Amaize has unveiled a new menswear collection tagged ‘BOUNDARIES’.
“BOUNDARIES was inspired by our quest to push the boundaries of creativity with unique pieces that interpret Western influence on African fashion concepts”, Mrs. Oliseh-Amaize, who won the Best Fashion Designer Award at the Nigeria Fashion Show (NFS) in Paris in 2006, said about the collection on Friday, November 17, 2017.
“What we have done is to play around with the Ankara fabric which is very popular here in Africa.
“We have attempted some creative work with the traditional Isi Agu fabric of the Igbos, we have also brought the concept of maps into Agbada embroidery to achieve a first-of-its-kind Afropolitan effect as well as experimenting with other daring ideas.
“You can’t talk about maps without boundaries, so this collection is essentially not just about pushing the boundaries of creativity but also, interpreting global fashion styles in African perspectives.
“We are simply showing the world that whatever the best designers can do anywhere across the globe, we can also do here in Africa. For too long, we have been playing catch up.
“It’s time to take the driver’s seat. We must push Africa into the consciousness of global fashion and style trends”, the creative director of Tesslo Concepts said.
Modeled by the designer’s husband, Ohimai Godwin Amaize who is popularly known as Mr. Fix Nigeria, ‘BOUNDARIES’ is also expected to cater for a global market as the Christmas festive season approaches. The collection can be ordered from any part of the world in its various style formats online at www.tessloconcepts.com/shop
