The National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Thursday, November 12, 2015 raised an alarm, warning residents that Boko Haram terror attacks were imminent in the South West zone, warning schools, places of worship and other crowded places to put in extra security measures to forestall any loss of lives.
The warning came via a statement issued in the Ekiti State Capital, Ado-Ekiti by the state Director of NOA, Dayo Famosaya, who said going by the security report, insurgents might have infiltrated the South West and were pkanning on deploying cluster bombs to wreck havoc.
He said: “They have threatened to deploy cluster bombs in the zone. These cluster bombs are usually housed in discarded metallic materials such as cans of beverages and soft drinks.
“The bombs may be concealed in bags and for it to have more grievous effect, they have planned to deploy these bombs in crowded places such as schools, markets, stadia, churches and mosques.”
Famosaya also warned the general public to beware of people weraing flowing apparel, as it could be used to hide weapons and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
